Sheikh Dr. Sajid Umar is a Jurist and qualified  Judge, as well as an educator, published author, researcher, and developer. His vision is a world of ignited communities that inspire and benefit humanity through sincerity, excellence, and steadfastness.

Though born in Leicester, UK, Sheikh Sajid is bred in Harare, Zimbabwe, a place he considers home. There, he completed his primary and secondary education and pursued a first degree in Information Technology with a focus on hardware, software, network design, and security. By the age of 20, he had successfully established his own IT business. Alongside his academic pursuits, he graduated from a Qur’an Academy at just 18 years old. This achievement marked the start of his journey into Islamic studies.

He moved to Riyadh to study at Imām Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, where he completed a three-year diploma in Arabic Language and Islamic Sciences. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Sharī’ah with distinction. He then pursued a Master’s degree in Comparative Fiqh and Judiciary (Qadha) from the Higher Institute for Judiciary Studies, graduating with honours. His thesis focused on Liquidity Management through Repurchase Agreements (REPO), exploring their Islamic rulings and alternatives. Sheikh Sajid continued his studies to complete a PhD in Comparative Islamic Law and Judiciary under the guidance of renowned scholars. He's PhD topic was on the subject of Financial Risk Management, specifically on Standardised Hedging Contracts between Islamic Financial Institutions.

Throughout his academic journey, Sheikh Sajid used his semester breaks to teach Islamic and development programs worldwide. He delivered lectures in mosques, international conferences, and both onsite and online seminars, as well as through radio and television platforms.

He has contributed to curriculum development for English-based Islamic schools and authored numerous articles and dissertations in Arabic and English on Islamic Sciences and contemporary topics. He currently serves as the Head of the Department of Fiqh and a lecturer at Knowledge International University. Sheikh Sajid also played a key role in launching the Notes Academy and HourIslam and continues to work as a senior advisor and lecturer in these programs.

Since 2010, Sheikh Sajid has been an advisor with Mercy Mission World, serving as the Director of Islamic Development for impactful projects like the National Zakat Foundation and Charity Right. He is also the chairman of AlKauthar Institute and has been an instructor for its courses since 2009. His diverse experience includes serving as Chief Islamic Editor for Little Explorers Magazine and co-founding Tanzeel, an engaging online program focusing on offering Qur'an lessons online.

In 2022, Sheikh Sajid co-founded the Islamic Finance Advisory (IFA) in London, where he serves as the Chair of the Panel of Scholars. Additionally, he is a senior adjudicator with the Islamic Council, an adviser to the Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA), and a Shariah Scholar with the Bahrain-based Shariah Review Bureau. His leadership in Islamic finance and his expertise in Islamic jurisprudence have positioned him as a key figure in both academic and professional spheres of Shariah governance.

Dr. Sajid Umar is a published author, both in the West as well as the middle-East, and stays up-to-date on the topics and trends related to leadership, management, and current affairs. He is married and a proud father to three children—Abdullah, Ahmed, and Khadeejah. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf, football, and cricket, and he still welcomes opportunities to engage in sports today.
